At one time, all 88 counties in Ohio had a County Home. Because the residents of Medina County believe in the purpose of the Home, ours remains one of the few still operating as originally intended

Built in 1854 on over 400 acres, the home was originally a working farm which provided housing for indigent persons who were unable to care for themselves.

Rebuilt in 1861 due to a fire, the home became an infirmary for veterans of the civil war.

The home now occupies ​over 39000 square feet, sitting on just over 10 acres, containing 36 bedrooms, and providing a home for up to 45 Medina County Residents in need.​​

The Home is funded by the residents of Medina County through a real estate tax levy

The Medina County Home​
Mission Statement
The people of Medina County charge the County Home with providing their citizens with custodial care in a homelike environment.
The County Home will support each individual residing at the Home and act as their advocate to ensure personal self-worth, freedom of choice and a continued ability to be a part of the community-at-large
